Mind Control

I enjoy keeping up with conspiracy stuff. There’s an important distinction to be made between “conspiracy” and “conspiracy theory”. One describes what is and the other is a put-down for those who have an interest in what’s going on behind the scenes. Be assured that there is plenty going on behind the scenes, the bulk of which is solely to the advantage of the elite and very much at the expense of the ordinary person.

A little while ago I was ferreting around the subject of Mind Control and stumbled upon a typically flaky biblical prophecy video that focused on the mind games “they” are playing with “us”. The trouble with so many such videos and articles is that the originators aren’t always entirely wrong. In fact, more often than not there are significant elements of truth scattered through the nonsense. In this case there was a rare and specific reference to brainwave entrainment as a mind control tool being applied by “them”. While I have an immense appreciation of the usefulness of AVS for personal exploration and for some practical and therapeutic purposes, I am very aware that some content creators, particularly those that package a whole program along with motivation, follow up and added-cost extras, are falling fully in line with the general process of dumbing down that “they” have implemented through education, media, religion and new age practices.

The particular reference was to US Patent Number 5356368 – Robert Monroe’s “Method of and apparatus for inducing desired states of consciousness”. http://www.google.com/patents/US5356368 . This patent is well worth reading as it provides an excellent overview of the rationale and possible applications for audio stimulation, with particular attention to frequency following response (FFR) which is the most demonstrable basis of AVS as a whole. There’s plenty of interesting reading on the Monroe Institute website – https://www.monroeinstitute.org/ . Monroe’s best known product is HemiSync.

Do I think AVS can be used for mind control? Yes, absolutely. But not in the obvious way one might think. AVS isn’t going to make you do or think anything different unless you buy into the mode of thought being promoted by the content provider. Like many things, it is the marketing rather than the technology that causes the real shifts in consciousness – if they can convince you that you “should” think and behave in a particular way and then convince you that if you do their program you will enjoy the benefits of those thoughts and behaviors then they’ve got you. You will notice that many of the AVS programs focus on some form of self improvement, usually where “improvement” means becoming a better cog in the machine.

Having and keeping your own mind is generally quite a disadvantage in the world as it stands today. AVS certainly provides a tool that can assist with conformity.

Salient post, Craig! Strobe based ‘nonlethal weapons’ appear to remain in active development: http://www.wired.com/2009/03/strobe-weapons/.

I recall reading about military experiments using very bright strobe flares back in the 50s, as well.

Thanks Robert! Good link. Nearly everyone who has used the MegaVisor with the xenon strobe has found it disorienting and unpleasant – the close confinement and full field amplifies the effect of what is otherwise just an ordinary party strobe. The short pulse with fast rise and fall times is different to anything I’ve experienced with LEDs – low duty cycle square pulses with LEDs of the output levels I have played with aren’t even close.

The lam1 uses 80% duty cycle square pulses at 10Hz overlaid on a complex semi-random color sequence. It’s pleasing but relatively tame, appropriate to its design purpose. The same control sequence on the PentaVisor is much more psychoactive. The PentaVisor and lam1 are interchangeable on the MCU board.
